• Town meeting budget talks facing delay: The problem: no
definitive information on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2004,
since the state is "far" from announcing what towns and cities can
anticipate in the second year, and growing, of the state fiscal
crisis.
• Feehan HS' Neil Loew Guidance Counselor of the
Year:
Loew, a Bishop Feehan faculty member for 35 years and a resident of
Plainville, has been named Guidance Counselor of the Year by the
Catholic School Counseling Association (CSCA). The CSCA is made up
of over 100 Catholic high schools.
• Chamber auction raises $13,000: Despite a couple of
glitches during the evening, the North Attleboro/Plainville Chamber
of Commerce's 13th annual television auction netted approximately
$13,000, the "goal" of several of the Chamber directors.
• Free membership at YMCA for active duty
families:The Hockomock YMCA is reaching out
to families of military reservists called to active duty. As a
result of the Homeland Defense initiative family members will be
offered to YMCA membership privileges at no cost for the duration of
active duty.
