• Sturdy Hospital to celebrate 90 years with party: Sturdy
Memorial Hospital officially turned 90 April 14 and the
important anniversary will be marked with a community event
Saturday, May 3, at Capron Park and Zoo (rain date Sunday,
May 4).
• Area Community Garden plans opening on May 10 : Both
long-time and novice gardeners are encouraged to sign-up
for plots at the annual Community Garden opening, to take
place from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The garden is located at
the corner of Hodges and Hayward streets in Attleboro.
• Local letter carriers preparing for 11th annual food drive:
Residents of NA, Plainville, and Attleboro Falls will receive
cards in their mailbox announcing the drive. Customers need
only leave a box or can of non-perishable food next to their
mailbox before they get delivery from their letter carriers
on May 10.
• Car Wash at Community: A car wash to benefit the
American Cancer Society Relay for Life will be held Saturday,
May 24, from 10 a.m. (or after the Memorial Day Parade)
to 2 p.m. in the Community School Parking Lot, South Washington
Street. Fee is a "donation".
• Celebrities joining HMEA 5k walk/run in Franklin May 18:
Gail
Huff of News Center 5 will host the second annual Horace
Mann Educational Associates (HMEA) Independence 5k walk/run
to be held Sunday, May 18 on Constitution Boulevard in the
Franklin Industrial Park.
